new parent math: sleeping baby = clogged toilet

the toilet is backed up in the bathroom off our bedroom: why? my fault - being a typical girl I use baseball sized wads of TP. but I cant and dont flush or create extra sounds and I have to walk on pins and needles once baby boy is finally asleep (crib is in our room). So even though he might sleep through the water sounds - i do not want to experiment and find out...

also: baby sleeping in car = empty gas tank. after running a few errands with baby boy and dog in tow, baby boy is lulled to sleep by the motion of the car. I am so afraid that once I get home and extricate him frm his car seat he will wake and not go back down for his nap time. So I now have to drive drive drive in envious circles around the .5 mil homes in the nearby CT neighborhoods (that I cant afford to live it). and I cant keep the silly dog who is now stuck on this adventure from panting (shhhhhh!). but baby boy sleeps so i drive drive drive... oh, and I GOTTA PEE!!!

I feel like a bad parent...

well abuela isn't the only one who cant keep up with him anymore... and now he is quick AND silent.  I call him my little ninja - cause he sneaks up behind you and if you turn around, you trip over him before you knew he was there!

the bad parent guilt trip happens when you see him take a dive or tumble into something and he was only arms reach away... and its all in the face... a scratch here or there, or a red mark on his cheek...  I know other parents know - they often look at him and say - so he must be walking?  but sometimes i wonder if the next thought in their heads must be - if she says, "no" I'm calling the cops and reporting child abuse!

Babys fallen... and Gma cant get up... (fast enough)

GMa is tired when i get home. You can see it in her face and hear it in her voice. Taking care of baby boy is her joy and is running her down. But she cannot keep up with him.

This morning I asked her if she knew what the red mark on his cheek was... (i noticed it during his bath last night) she said he fell against the table leg when he was across the room from her yesterday. She said he was walking across the room towards the dog's bed (which is under the table and 7 or 8 feet from the couch) and by the time she got up from the couch to go after him, he was on his way head first into the table leg... I tried not to have a huge reaction... he seemed ok and I know she is trying and I know she feels bad. In an attempt to try and make us both feel better I said - "wow, he is so fast, I know its hard to keep up with him..." I even told her the story about my friend at work who said that once his daughter started walking - in every picture they took of her - she has a bump or scratch on her face or head...

when i left for work this morning I said lightly - "ok so remember, only let speedy be loose - if you are going to be up and chasing him around - otherwise its okay to keep him in the walker..."

I worry about the baby sometimes and hate having to remind/educate her about what i think are common sense safety issues... but I try to do it in as light and non-freaked out way as I can...
